On Tuesday, 23 July 2024, during a plenary sitting chaired by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, announced the designation of new leaders and members to the sectoral committees of Parliament, in accordance with rules 187 and 188 of the Rules of Procedure.
This move aims to enhance the efficiency and oversight capabilities of the committees.
The designations include the leadership of critical committees such as Health, Tourism, Trade and Industry, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, and ICT and National Guidance.
The 15 sectoral committees are departmentally related and their composition is determined at the start of each new session, which lasts a year.
