The Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations and Commander of the UPDF Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba paid a courtesy call on Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta as he returned from his working trip in Somalia.

“I consider him my elder and an inspirational and great leader in Africa,” Gen Kainerugaba said of the Kenyan president.

Gen Kainerugaba and Mr. Kenyatta could be seen sharing a hearty conversation.

In a tweet last month, Gen Kainerugaba expressed admiration for the Kenyan leader, noting: “Afande Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. President of Kenya and a very great man. Nobody can stop reggae! God bless him.” The message was decorated with the Kenyan leader’s photo flashing the ‘thumbs up’ gesture.

Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is a Kenyan politician who has served as the fourth and President of Kenya since 2013. He served as a member of parliament for Gatundu South from 2002 to 2013. Uhuru, who is the son of Kenya’s founding president Jomo Kenyatta also served as Deputy Prime Minister from 2007 to 2013.

Like Uganda, Kenya is one of the troop-contributing countries in Somalia. Others are Burundi, Djibouti, and Ethiopia.

Ugandan troops are deployed in Sector 1, which comprises the regions of Banadir, and Lower Shabelle while Kenyan forces are responsible for Sector 2 comprising Lower and Middle Jubba.
