Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to Retire from UPDF after 28 Years in UPDF

The Commander of the UPDF Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced that he is retiring from the UPDF.

In a tweet Gen Kainerugaba who is also the senior presidential adviser for special operations says he is satisfied with his achievements in the forces.

“After 28 years of service in my glorious military, the greatest military in the world, I am happy to announce my retirement. Me and my soldiers have achieved so much! I have only love and respect for all those great men and women that achieve greatness for Uganda everyday,” Gen Kainerugaba said in the tweet.

The General will now await the UPDF too leadership to either grant or deny his wish to officially retire.

Interpretation

Gen Kainerugaba officially joined in 1999. That makes it 23 years in service. 

From his tweet, he gives us a hint on possible retirement in the next 5 years. Making it 28 years of service and not immediate as many interpreted.
