Gen Mbadi Commissions UPDF-NORINCO Projects

Gen Wilson Mbadi, the Chief of Defence Forces, stood on the podium, addressing the distinguished gathering at the Nakasongola Cantonment Complex. His words reverberated as he spoke of the importance of the day’s events. “I welcome all of our guests to witness the commissioning of the UPDF-NORINCO projects, a crucial milestone on our defense production journey,” he began.

He thanked those who had worked tirelessly to make the day possible, acknowledging the strategic guidance of the President of Uganda in building a robust national security apparatus. “It is under His Excellency’s vision and guidance that these facilities have come to fruition. The doctrine of the tripartite has guided us to focus on building internal capacity, and today we are witnessing the revolutionarisation and modernisation of our defense and security capabilities.”

Mbadi expressed his gratitude to the President for spearheading the venture that led to a joint partnership between China Wanbao and Luwero Industries Limited. “The President has created and sustained a peace-enabling environment, which was crucial for this Joint Venture to happen,” he remarked.

He elucidated on the positive impact of the new facilities on national and regional security architecture. “The commissioning of these facilities will enable self-reliance, cost-effectiveness, increased combat readiness, and heightened economic returns from defense production. Furthermore, it will facilitate the training of our personnel and employment opportunities for locals, including our deserving veterans,” Mbadi said, emphasizing the importance of local capacity building and the enfranchisement of Ugandan citizens in the realm of Pan Africanism.

As the audience listened intently to Gen Wilson Mbadi’s words, it was evident that the commissioning of the UPDF-NORINCO projects marked a significant stride toward the enhancement of Uganda’s defense capabilities and its economic and national security framework.
