Gen Kayihura Among 100 Confirmed UPDF General Officers to Retire

H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has approved the retirement of 110 General Officers and Senior Officers from the UPDF.

According to a statement by the UPDF Spokesman Brig Felix Kulayige, 11 Generals and 99 Senior Officers from the rank of Major to Colonel will retire next month.

Among General Officers who will retire on the 31st of August 2023 in Batch 13A include former Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura and Lt Gen Nakibus Lakara.

Lakara has served in various capacities including as the commanding officer of the UPDF 2nd Division based in Mbarara. Lt Gen Lakara also served as commander of the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre, based in Jinja among several others. Kayihura is the most senior followed by Lakara in this retiring group.
