The Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala has held strategic meetings with United States Ambassador William Pop and Ethiopian ambassador Elsegenet Bezabih at the Works Ministry Headquarters in Kampala which focused mainly on infrastructure development, enhancing trade and tourism and exploring collaboration on regional transport projects.

The Ministry of Works and Transport after the devolution of Uganda National Roads Authority through its Works Department has embarked on major road, railway infrastructure by collaborating with agencies, authorities, local governments and development partners involved in the development and maintenance of major transport infrastructure mainly focusing on public works to ensure safety and compliance with standards.

The meeting between William Pop and Ambassador Bezabih signal a shift in the growing transport infrastructure of Uganda crucial for the country’s economic development in railways, roads, air travel while highlighting the challenges and future prospects of the transport system.

The meeting between the Katumba Wamala and the Ethiopian delegation was very important and strategic given Ethiopia’s heavy investment in the transport infrastructure especially Air transport which is enhancing the country’s competitiveness, tourism and other economic activities.

” We received a delegation from the United States embassy led by Ambassador William Pop and our discussion focused mainly on infrastructure development in Uganda and we also received Her excellency Elsenget Bezabih accompanied by Ethiopian airlines delegation officer and we discussed strengthening aviation ties between Ethiopian and Uganda Airlines and we explored collaboration on regional transport projects”, said Katumba Wamala.
