Gen Muhoozi Visits UPDF Troops in Somalia After Alshabaab Attack
The Senior presidential adviser on special operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba spent five days in Mogadishu, Somalia where he visited UPDF soldiers following the Bulo Mareer attack by Alshabaab terrorists.
According to information from his office, Gen Kainerugaba visited the injured soldiers who are recovering in different hospitals in Mogadishu.
The Kampala Post understands that Gen Kainerugaba was also briefed on the circumstances under which the attack on the UPDF base happened.
Before concluding his visit, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba met the President of Somalia HE Hassan Mohamud and delivered a message from President Museveni.
“H.E. President @HassanSMohamud met with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, President @KagutaMuseveni’s Senior Advisor for Special Operations, at Villa Somalia today,” a message posted on Somalia’s President tweeter handle noted yesterday.
“Gen. @mkainerugaba conveyed a message from President Yoweri Museveni on collaboration in the fight against terrorism. The President condemned the recent Bulomarer attack on Ugandan #ATMIS forces, expressed condolences to the families of the fallen heroes, and thanked the gov’t and the people of Uganda for their unwavering commitment to Somalia’s security,” the message read further.
Gen Kainerugaba’s visit comes after the attack by Alshabaab terrorists on the UPDF base in Buulo Mareer where 54 soldiers were killed according to President Museveni.
