The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, met with his Rwandan counterpart, Gen Mubarakh Muganga, Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), at the RDF Headquarters in Kigali.

The meeting, which took place on Monday afternoon, was attended by senior military officials, including the Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, Maj Gen James Birungi, and Brig Gen Richard Karemire, from the Ugandan side.  Lt Gen Vincent Nyakarundi among  other senior officers attended  on the Rwandan side.

Gen Kainerugaba described the meeting as a return visit, following his counterpart’s visit to Kampala in May, aimed at discussing bilateral and regional security matters. Such engagements are routine and part of ongoing security dialogues between Uganda and Rwanda, highlighting the strong relations between the two countries.

During his visit to Kigali, General Kainerugaba also attended President Paul Kagame’s swearing-in ceremony at the Amahoro Stadium, which took place on Sunday.
