The Chief of Defence Forces who is also the Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has donated sports equipment and a cash contribution of UGX 10 million to support the upcoming Tooro Kingdom Inter-Clans Football Tournament. The competition is scheduled to kick off on April 7, 2026, with the final match set for May 4, 2026.
The contribution was officially handed over on his behalf by Brigadier General Richard Karemire, the Joint Staff for Formal Education, Sports and Culture, to Hon. Eng. Kateeba Divine Francis Atwoki, the Tooro Kingdom Minister for Education, Youth and Sports.
According to the Chief of Defence Forces, the support, which includes football equipment and financial assistance, is intended to facilitate the smooth organisation of the tournament.

Gen Kainerugaba commended the leadership and people of the Tooro Kingdom for their longstanding association with and support to the National Resistance Army and later the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces since the liberation struggle. He reaffirmed UPDF’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote national unity, community development, and youth engagement through sports.
Receiving the donation, Hon. Kateeba expressed gratitude to Gen. Kainerugaba and the UPDF fraternity for the support, noting that the gesture reflects the force’s people-centred approach. He emphasised the importance of strengthening collaboration between cultural institutions and security forces, adding that cultural and sporting events help preserve traditions while promoting harmony among communities.
The function was attended by Maj. Henry Mwijuka, the UPDF Staff Officer for Sports.
