The Ministry of Health on Sunday night announced that four more cases of COVID-19 had been registered, bringing the total number of infected people to 52.
A statement signed by the director-general of health services, Dr Henry G. Mwebesa, said 300 samples were tested but most of them turned out negative.
“The confirmed cases were in quarantine at the time of test and did not show any signs and symptoms of COVID-19,” Mwebesa said.
The cases included a 22-year-old male from Wakiso district who arrived from Dubai in UAE on March 22.
The other is a 66-year-old woman, a resident of Luzira, Kampala who also arrived from Dubai on the same date.
Another 65-year-old woman who came from Dubai on the same date tested positive as well as 26-year-old man from Rubaga.
“Today, 377 individuals have been discharged from quarantine. A total of 602 are under institutional quarantine while 834 contacts to the confirmed cases are under follow up,” Mwebesa said.
He said all the confirmed cases were in stable condition at Mulago National Specialised Hospital, Entebbe Grade B Hospital, Adjumani and Hoima hospitals.
“Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 related death,” Mwebesa emphasized.
“The Ministry of Health continues to appeal to the population to remain calm but vigilant, practice the preventive measures and stay at home,” he said.
