Plain clothed security operatives have on Monday afternoon picked up Joseph Kabuleta,  the leader of National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED).

Kabuleta was arrested at about 1:00 pm from his offices in Bugolobi, Kampala, under unclear circumstances.

Eye witnesses allege that two of the five armed officers driving a numberless black drone car stormed the offices unannounced, forcefully entered the gate and grabbed Kabuleta.

There is no official comment yet from the military or police concerning  for Kabuleta’s arrest or charges levied against him but some members from his office allege he is in custody at the Criminal Investigations’ Directorate(CID) in Kibuli.

In November 2022, Kabuleta was summoned by police over sectarian comments he made on May 30, 2022. He was directed to appear before police CID Commander at CPS, which he declined.

It is alleged that Kabuleta published material that promoted sectarianism, nepotism, parochialism and tribalism hence in-sighting the public.

Commissioner of Police Chelimo Beeta said Kabuleta was summoned to appear on November 03, which never happened.

Kabuleta has since dismissed accusations levied on him as a political ploy to disorganize his agenda.
