Five suspects have been arrested over an aggravated robbery incident in Nateete, Kampala.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy spokesman for Kampala Metropolitan, confirmed that the incident happened on June 1, 2024, at approximately 3:00 AM during a foot patrol conducted by the Wakaliga Police Post.
The suspects, identified as Ssenjobe Robert alias Soda, Kateraga Elvis alias Mark, and three others, were found in possession of various stolen items, including a TV and a smartphone. Dangerous weapons such as pangas and house-breaking implements were also recovered. Two of the suspects were apprehended at the scene of the crime.
According to Owoyesigyire, police recovered two pangas, master keys, and other breaking implements, which have been secured as evidence. He says the suspects have been charged and will be arraigned in court tomorrow on allegations of aggravated robbery. The owner of the recovered items, including the TV and smartphone, has been traced, and his statement has been taken.
“We are increasing our visibility through patrols in residential areas to help curb the vice of burglaries and robberies,” stated ASP Owoyesigyire. He further commended the vigilance of patrol officers for their continued efforts to maintain safety and security.
