Five Further Remanded in Murder of Ndiga Clan Head

State Attorney Caroline Mpumwire informed the court that investigations were incomplete

The Mwanga II Magistrate’s Court has extended the remand of five individuals implicated in the murder of Eng Daniel Bbosa, the head of the Ndiga clan.

The accused are Noah Lujja, Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale, Ezra Mayanja, and Milly Naluwenda.

They appeared before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba to hear updates on the ongoing investigations.

The prosecution alleges that on February 25th, 2024, at Kikandwa Lungujja, Rubaga Division, Kampala District, the suspects, along with others still at large, unlawfully caused the death of Engineer Kakeedo Daniel Bbosa with malice aforethought.

State Attorney Caroline Mpumwire informed the court that investigations were incomplete and requested an adjournment. Consequently, the magistrate further remanded the suspects until May 30th, 2024.

The incident involved the shooting of Bbosa, after which residents pursued the assailants, leading to the death of one of them at the scene. Noah Lujja sustained injuries but was rescued by the police and admitted to Mulago Hospital for treatment before formal charging before the court.

The hunt for the prime suspect, Tabula Lujja Bbosa, intensified, with a bounty of 20 million shillings placed on him.

The context of the murder is allegedly rooted in a longstanding dispute within the kingdom, spanning over 480 years. This dispute led to the Buganda cultural court, known as court Yakisekwa, directing Bbosa to step down from leadership due to lineage discrepancies among the clan’s true descendants.
