Five ADF Suspects Arrested In JATT Operations

The Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce (JATT) has made significant strides in apprehending suspects linked to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and suspected wrongdoers across the country.

According to the Uganda police spokesman Fred Enanga, on December 30, 2023, the joint forces operating in Rwenzori East, Kasese, successfully carried out an operation resulting in the arrest of three suspects believed to be associated with the ADF.

The suspects were found in possession of alarming items, including pangas, a solar panel, fuel, and tarpaulins.

In a separate incident, Enanga says the vigilance of security teams in Namutumba led to the arrest of another suspect  posing as a mentally unstable person near Kaswabuli Secondary School in Bukonte village.

The suspect’s suspicious activities, coupled with the discovery of food supplies from a vehicle and his peculiar sleeping quarters in a trench within a bush, raised concerns. Upon examination, the individual was found to be in normal health and subsequently handed over to JATT for further investigation.

He further states that in the Albertine region and Masindi district one Kumakech Richard, was arrested allegedly in possession of materials for making explosive devices. Enanga says thorough search at his residence in Kiryana village, Kimengo sub-county, on December 29, 2024, uncovered an assortment of items, including nails, welding rods, pliers, batteries, and six bullets of PK.

Additionally, 16 bundles of deteriorating wiring materials were discovered at his parents’ homes in Kidwera village. Richard has been charged with illegal possession of explosives, and investigations are ongoing.
