Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury Ramathan Ggoobi last evening at a farewell dinner hosted by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development at Kampala Serena Hotel thanked Ms.Mukami Kariuki the outgoing World Bank Country Manager for doing a fantastic job in supporting the development of Uganda. “I want to appreciate you very heartly for the support you have rendered to the Ministry. Your professionalism,
dedication and openness to dialogue has set a commendable standard for our continuous collaboration with the Bank,” said the PSST.
Ggoobi said her commitment and engagement has contributed to the delivery of various interventions, adding that the key milestones for which Mukami will be remembered include; signature of a number of projects in both loans and grants worth USD 2.251 billion. He said these projects are in areas of infrastructure development including roads, energy, education, livelihoods and agriculture among others. The PSST also said Mukami has supported Gov’t to improve on the performance of projects compared to the previous years.
The Governor Bank of Uganda Michael Atingi-Ego said Mukami had Uganda at heart and was very passionate in moving forward World Bank (WB) programmes in Uganda.
On her part, Mukami thanked the Ministry for organising the farewell dinner in her honour. She urged the government to be innovative in order to effectively deliver projects using the available resources, adding that the amount of resources for projects are expected to be limited in the future. She also commended government for the good policy of supporting and hosting refugees.
