FDC Mourns the Passing of Academic Prof. Frank Nabwiso
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has mourned Frank Nabwiso, who passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10 am at Mukono Hospital, where he had been receiving special treatment for pneumonia for over 30 days.
According to John Kikonyogo, the FDC party spokesperson, throughout his illustrious career, Nabwiso served Uganda with distinction, holding various prominent positions, including Executive Director of the Uganda Export Promotion Council, Director of the AIDS Information Center (AIC), and former Vice Chancellor of Busoga University.
“The FDC party is deeply saddened by the loss of Hon. Prof. Frank Nabwiso, a distinguished elder and pillar of our party. He passed away at 10 am this morning at Mukono Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment for pneumonia for a month,” the FDC official statement read in part.
Kikonyogo noted that the deceased was also a respected academician who earned his Doctorate in Adult Education and Rural Development from the University of Wisconsin in the United States.
He further highlighted that as a dedicated leader, Nabwiso mentored many and played a key role in the FDC Party since its formation, serving as a leadership coach, Member of Parliament for Kagoma County (2001-2006), Member of the Parliamentary Advocacy Forum (PAFO), and founder member of the party. He was also a strong advocate for Inter-Party Cooperation (IPC), serving as the secretary of the Inter-Party Cooperation platform.
According to Kikonyogo, Nabwiso’s final appearance at the party headquarters was on October 17, 2024, where he delivered a keynote speech at the 17th FDC National Council meeting. He added that Nabwiso is survived by nine children.
The FDC party leadership will soon announce the program for Nabwiso’s sendoff after meeting with the family to arrange a befitting sendoff for such a beloved political patriarch.
