Entebbe Police Uncover Buried Explosive Device in Botanical Gardens

The bomb squad successfully detonated an explosive device discovered buried on the ground at Rolex Beach within the serene Botanical Gardens in Entebbe.

The explosive device was discovered on January 23, 2024 by workers who alerted police of the findings, leading the scene to be cordoned off.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, security officers led by the District Police Commander (DPC) of Entebbe Police Division and bomb experts rushed to the scene immediately.

He explains that preliminary investigations indicate that a non-spent ordnance was safely  recovered, the explosive device is believed to have been buried underground for an extended period and exposed due to soil erosion.

He further states that with the guidance of bomb experts, a controlled explosion was carried out on-site, successfully averting any injuries or damages.

Police have called on the public to exercise vigilance, urging citizens to report any suspicious items promptly.
