Emirates Renews Partnerships With Mauritius and Uganda Tourism
Emirates solidified its commitment to Mauritius by renewing its partnership with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM).
Since 2012, Emirates and MTPA have jointly promoted tourism to Mauritius, with the airline operating double-daily A380 services since 2002.
In 2023, Emirates played a crucial role in transporting nearly 1.3 million tourists to the island, aiding in achieving the country’s tourism targets. Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, expressed pride in serving Mauritius and highlighted the airline’s capacity to transport up to 1,000 tourists daily, contributing positively to the country’s tourism economy.
Arvind Bundhun, Director of MTPA, emphasized the significance of Emirates’ presence in boosting Mauritius’s tourism sector by opening up markets in the Middle East, Russia, and Eastern Europe, along with providing global connectivity through Dubai’s hub.
Additionally, Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTM) to drive inbound tourism to Uganda, known as the Pearl of Africa.
With Uganda being a key destination in Emirates’ global network for over two decades, the partnership aims to enhance visitors’ experiences of Uganda’s natural landscapes.
Badr Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Africa, highlighted Uganda’s appeal as one of Africa’s most beloved destinations.
Lilly Ajarova, CEO of the UTM, regarded the MoU signing as a significant step in promoting Uganda as a competitive tourism destination.
Under the MoU, Emirates will identify key markets to promote Uganda’s attractions, while the UTM will collaborate with the airline to develop programs for trade partners, hoteliers, and tour operators to market and stimulate the tourism industry.
