Eleven Presidents in Uganda for Museveni’s Swearing-in Ceremony

Eleven African heads of state are in Uganda to witness the swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni as a sign of solidarity with the East African leader.

They include; Uhuru Kenyatta (Kenya), Évariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi), Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed (Somalia), Emmerson Mnangagwa (Zimbabwe), Salva Kiir (South Sudan), Hage Gottfried Geingob (Namibia) and Alpha Conde (Guinea).

Others are Sahle-Work Zewde (Federal Republic of Ethiopia), Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo (Democratic Republic of Congo), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (Ghana), and Samia Suluhu (Tanzania).

On Tuesday evening, President Museveni treated his counterparts to a state dinner at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

“Interactions with the different visiting Heads of State before the State Dinner at Speke Resort Munyonyo earlier. On behalf of Ugandans, I am supremely honored to host the different leaders here,” Mr Museveni said.

Other distinguished foreign leaders have been arriving in the country to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni scheduled for Wednesday, during which he will take a formal oath for a sixth term in office. The function takes place at Kololo Independence Grounds in Uganda’s capital Kampala.

President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo arrived Tuesday evening.

Here is the moment South Sudan President, Salva Kiir stepped off the plane at Entebbe to a warm welcome by top Ugandan government officials, including the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem.
