Electoral Commission Unveils Timetable for Dokolo District By-Elections
The Electoral Commission has unveiled the timetable for crucial by-elections in Dokolo District.
This follows the unfortunate passing of the former District Woman Representative, Hon. Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, on January 18th, 2024. She succumbed to cancer.
Beginning on February 12th and running until February 15th, 2024, the National Voters’ Register will undergo updates at designated stations across the district’s 71 parishes/wards.
February 15th serves as the cutoff date for voter registration and transfer requests within Dokolo District, underscoring the significance of timely participation in the electoral process.
Following this, from February 21st to March 1st, 2024, the Voters’ Register will be prominently displayed at all 173 polling stations, offering residents an opportunity to verify their registration details.
Subsequently, from March 1st to March 6th, 2024, the Parish Tribunal Recommendations for voter list adjustments will be scrutinized, ensuring accuracy and integrity in the electoral roll.
March 11th and 12th, 2024, will witness the nomination of candidates for various positions, setting the stage for a flurry of campaign activities from March 13th to March 19th, 2024.
The electoral process will culminate invoting on March 18th, 2024, for councilors representing Special Interest Groups, and on March 21st, 2024, for the highly anticipated by-election of the District Woman Representative to Parliament and other Local Government Councillors.
