By the end of the exercise, a total of eleven candidates had been confirmed as candidates seeking to take the nation’s top seat.

Among them, five belong to Political Parties while the other six are independents.

Among those running under parties are; ruling National Resistance Movement – NRM’s Gen. Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni who is the incumbent, former Army Commander Gen. Mugisha Muntu who is running under newly formed Alliance for National Transformation – ANT party, popular musician Robert Kyagulanyi of the National Unity Platform and Nobert Mao of the historical Democratic Party.

The independents include former spy chief Gen. Henry Tumukunde, former sports journalist turned pastor Joseph Kabuleeta, John Katumba, Fred Mwesigye, Nancy Kalembe who is the only woman in the race and Willy Mayambala.
