Education Minister Calls On UNEB to Implement Law Against Exam Malpractice
The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, has called upon stakeholders in the education sector to take action against examination malpractice.
The Minister was represented by the State Minister of Education and Sports, Peter Ogwang, during a meeting with Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) officials and invigilators. She emphasized that examination malpractice undermines the moral fabric of society and needs to be stopped. She also urged UNEB to implement a law against such malpractice.
The Minister also stated that anyone involved in or supporting these crimes would face severe penalties under the UNEB Act.
She emphasized the importance of adhering to the law and collectively working to combat this problem, stating that it is possible to eliminate this vice.
Mary Okwakol, the Chairperson of the Uganda National Examination Board, expressed concerns about the poor infrastructure in some rural schools, which increases the cost and challenges of transporting examination materials to these centers.
According to the UNEB calendar, the Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE) is scheduled to begin on October 13, 2023, while the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will start on November 7 and conclude on November 9, 2023. Additionally, the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Examinations (UACE) is set to run from November 10 to December 1, 2023. This information highlights the upcoming examination dates for these important assessments in Uganda.
