Dr. Omona Assumes Office as State Minister for Northern
Dr. Kenneth Omona Olusegun, former Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the president, has assumed the role of State Minister for Northern Uganda at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny, the outgoing Minister of State in charge of Northern Uganda, officially handed over her duties to Dr. Omona in the presence of various ministers and technical staff from the OPM.
During the handover, Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny outlined several pending programs for execution by the incoming minister. Notably, among these is the planned eviction of the Balaalo from Northern Uganda, which was hindered by the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease.
“I have transferred the responsibility of the Northern Uganda Rehabilitation office to Dr. Kenneth Omona. I will soon assume my new role as a Senior Presidential Advisor,” said Kwiyucwiny.
Reflecting on her tenure, Kwiyucwiny expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with institutions, leaders, and people of Northern Uganda. She emphasized the experience gained, which she believes has equipped her to provide specialized advice.
Dr. Kenneth Omona pledged to continue the work of his predecessor, aiming to contribute to the transformation of the country. However, he emphasized that public service is a temporary assignment.
In a related development, Agnes Nandutu handed over her duties as State Minister for Karamoja to her successor, Florence Nambozo, the Sironko woman Member of Parliament. Clad in Karimajong attire, Nandutu welcomed Nambozo to the role, adorning her with the same attire.
Upon assuming office, Florence Nambozo sought divine guidance for her new responsibilities.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their dedicated service and pledged cooperation with the incoming ministers to serve the country.
