Dokolo By Election: NRM Aspirant Vows to Address Development Challenges
Janet Adongo Rose Elau, the Dokolo woman MP aspirant running on the NRM ticket has asserted her suitability to champion the government’s promises to the local populace.
Campaigning in Bata town council, Okwalongwen, and Bata sub-counties, she pledged to advocate for the improvement of inadequate roads hindering the transportation of agricultural goods to markets.
Furthermore, Adongo promised to expedite the implementation of wealth creation programs such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga, aiming to enhance household incomes if elected into parliament. She emphasized her commitment to ensuring these initiatives reach their intended beneficiaries, unlike the opposition’s purported obstruction.
Addressing the issue of limited access to government funds due to lack of information, Adongo emphasized her role in bridging the information gap. She reiterated her objective of advocating for the elevation of Dokolo Health Centre IV to a district General hospital, particularly to enhance healthcare services for expectant mothers.
Regarding clean water provision in Bata and Okwalongwen, the NRM candidate assured constituents of her determination to collaborate with the government in extending clean and safe water to villages, underscoring it as her promise to the people of Dokolo.
According to Rosemary Seninde, the Director of Mobilisation at NRM, the locals face three main challenges: lack of electricity, poor roads, and inadequate access to safe water in some areas. Seninde expressed confidence that Adongo, if elected, would address these issues promptly.
She highlighted the mismanagement of government funds allocated for road infrastructure due to poor supervision, despite annual disbursements of one billion shillings. Seninde urged voters to elect Adongo, emphasizing her understanding of the district’s issues compared to other candidates.
The Dokolo North legislator, Moses Goli, lauded constituents for their warm reception and attentive engagement with Adongo’s developmental agenda. He expressed optimism that the people would overwhelmingly support the NRM on election day.
Joining Adongo on her campaign trail, Dokolo South MP Felix Okot Ogong affirmed his support for her candidacy. The NRM National Chairman and President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is slated to visit the area to amplify Adongo’s development message to Dokolo district voters.
