The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Hon Namayanja Rose Nsereko, has showcased the development achievements in Greater Luwero under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni.

While speaking at the Buganda for Museveni rally in Kasana Playgrounds, Luwero District yesterday, Namayanja highlighted major improvements in education and livelihoods.

“Though Luwero has not yet reached its full potential, we have come a long way,” she said. “From just 57 schools in the past, the region now boasts 1,497 schools—a clear result of the NRM’s commitment to ensuring every parish has a UPE school and every sub-county a government seed school.”

Namayanja also highlighted the impact of the Parish Development Model (PDM), through which Luwero District alone has received Shs 26.33 billion to empower local communities in driving their socio-economic growth. “This is development by the people, for the people,” she emphasised.

Party Elections and Government CommitmentsThe Deputy Secretary General praised the ongoing NRM grassroots elections, dismissing claims of inflated party registers. “The participation at parish and sub-county levels proves our structures are strong and active. District-level elections will proceed next Friday,” she asserted.

Attorney General Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka reiterated the government’s pledge to Luwero, announcing Shs 1.2 billion already released for the construction of the district headquarters, with an additional Shs 6.1 billion earmarked this financial year.

He also revealed plans for a Shs 2.5 billion fruit factory to boost agro-industrialisation and curb post-harvest losses—a key pillar of Museveni’s economic vision.

Leaders Rally Support for NRM
Hon. Agnes Kirabo Nantongo, Central Region Youth MP and rally host, pledged to bridge the gap between the government and citizens, vowing to “lobby tirelessly for Luwero’s advancement under the NRM.”

The event was attended by ministers, NRM Buganda Caucus MPs, and local leaders from across Greater Luwero, among others.
