Deputy IGG Praises Lions Club of Kumi Central for Community Service

Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria, the Deputy Inspector General of Government, has commended corporate social groups for their contributions towards humanity and the benefit of less privileged people in society.

“It is truly inspiring to see great acts of love and service to the communities. I have seen the renovations and the equipment you have sponsored at the health centers, the work at the police station, the environmental projects. This is truly amazing because you are doing a service beyond self,” said the Deputy IGG.

She emphasized the need to strengthen community service, volunteerism, and support for the poor and needy, as well as involving young people in positive community engagements.

Dr. Okiria made these remarks at Caros Haven-Kumi during the installation ceremony of the President-Elect of the Lions Club of Kumi Central, Susan Asio Ekure.

Earlier, Dr. Okiria inspected the accomplishments of the Lions Club of Kumi Central over the past year. These included the donation of a newly built building for Kumi Central Police housing DPC offices and the CID, as well as the planting of 3,000 trees to create a forest along the Kumi-Soroti highway.

She also witnessed the installation of the new board of the Lions Club of Kumi Central, presided over by Willy Bisangwa Mugara.

Susan Asio Ekure takes over from Eng. Olupot Simon Julius and has pledged to work towards achieving key milestones of the club. This includes guiding and ensuring the proper orientation of new members who join the Lions Club.
