Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Hails Uganda – Zimbabwe Military Ties

Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, has praised the long-standing and historic ties between Uganda and Zimbabwe, citing the shared experiences and similarities that unite the two Nations.

He noted that Zimbabwe has played a significant role in shaping the careers of many Officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), having hosted training courses for them.

Lt Gen Okiding made the remarks while addressing Directing Staff and Student Officers attending the Joint Command and Staff Course from the Zimbabwe Staff College, during their visit to the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya.

The head of the delegation, Group Captain Morris Mujikwa, said that comprehensive security is paramount to the survival of the human race.

He emphasized the importance of African countries collaborating through regional frameworks, highlighting the need for a unified approach to address common challenges.

Present were: the Chief of Joint Staff, Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, Joint Staff and Senior Officers of the UPDF.
