A tragic road accident at Bujaabe village in Nakitoma, Nakasongola district, claimed the lives of two people, with a child also dying on the way to the hospital.
Twelve others sustained serious injuries in the incident. The accident involved a Nile Star Bus (No. UBD 215 R), which reportedly swerved and collided with a taxi (No. UBD 215 R). Both vehicles were traveling towards Gulu.
According to Savanah Regional police spokesman, Sam Twineamazima, the identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.
He states that the force of the impact caused the taxi to be struck by a tire, sending it veering into the path of another vehicle, an Isufu Elfu (No. UBP 557 B), which was heading from Gulu to Luweero.
Twineamazima says emergency teams responded to the scene and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
