President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will address the nation on Saturday on the status of Covid 19 in the country after the lapse of the 42-day lockdown, the State House spokesperson Lindah Nabusaayi has said.

“@KagutaMuseveni will address the Nation this Saturday July 31, 2021 at 8pm on #COVID-19 and any other related issues. The address will be live on all Television and Radio stations Tune in,” Nabusaayi the Senior Presidential Press Secretary said on her official twitter account.

The country has been in a 42 day lockdown since June 2021 as part of the efforts to control the spread of Covid 19.

By the time the lock down was announced, the Ministry of Health was declaring more than 1000 cases of Covid 19 registered every day.

However, the country currently recieves an average of 350 cases every day.

President Museveni is expected to declare the new course of action after guidance by experts from the ministry of health.

It is not clear whether the President will ease the lockdown or extend the lockdown for more days to decisively defeat the virus.
