COU Champions Environmental Conservation and Sanitation Awareness Week

The Church of Uganda (COU) is actively participating in commemorating the Environmental and Sanitation Week alongside the entire country.

This week offers an opportunity for people to unite and take care of the world that God has created for humanity.

Josephine Ninsiima, the Program Officer for Climate Change Environment and Disaster Risk Management in the Directorate of Household and Community Transformation, outlined various activities planned for the week.

She encouraged the general public to join in.

Throughout the week, there will be Environment stewardship sermons during the Online Church of Uganda lunch hour fellowship until Friday, followed by overnight prayers. Bishops, Clergy, and other Church leaders will deliver messages on Climate conservation and environment stewardship from a biblical standpoint.

Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu will address the Province on Wednesday morning via the Media in Namirembe, providing further guidance on environment conservation and climate change mitigation measures.

Additionally, a webinar hosted by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda is scheduled for Friday. This event aims to bring together Church leaders at all levels across the Province to discuss “The role of the church in advancing climate action.”

As Uganda embarks on Sanitation and Hygiene Week, the overarching message emphasizes the importance of concerted efforts and collective responsibility. By working together and remaining committed, Uganda seeks to improve health conditions and promote sustainable development nationwide.
