The family and friends of the late Cedric Ndilima Babu have begun a week-long series of prayers and funeral activities in his honor, following his untimely passing. The former media personality, sports administrator, and political aspirant is being remembered with deep respect and affection across Uganda.

Cedric Babu passed away on May 31 at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi after battling severe heart failure. His remains were received by family, friends, and officials before being transported to Uganda Funeral Services in Bukoto.

The tentative funeral program, released by the family, started on Sunday, June 1, with evening prayers held at Cedric’s home in Kololo, Kampala.

Today, the body of the late Cedric Ndilima Babu remains at Uganda Funeral Services as family, friends, and Patriotic League Uganda(PLU) members gather for today’s mass and vigil at his Kololo residence. Mourners continue to arrive in steady numbers, with the PLU providing security at the venue.

The focus of the program shifts to his father’s home in Naguru,  the residence of Captain Francis Babu, followed by a vigil at 8:00 PM where another mass and vigil are scheduled for Thursday, June 5.

On Friday, June 6, a requiem mass will take place at Rubaga Cathedral (time to be confirmed), followed by the cortege to Kamengo,Mpigi where the final vigil will be held at 6:00 PM.

The funeral ceremony is expected to take place on Saturday, June 7, with the time yet to be announced.

Cedric Babu, son of veteran politician Captain Francis Babu, was known for his dynamic career in media, sports, and public life. Tributes continue to pour in across social media, with many celebrating his charm, dedication, and patriotism.

The family has asked mourners to continue keeping them in prayer during this difficult time.

Cedric gained early fame as a TV presenter and media figure, especially among Uganda’s youth in the early 2000s.

He served as President of Uganda Tennis Association, where he pushed for reforms and promoted the sport at grassroots levels.

In 2021, Cedric contested for Kampala Central MP as an independent candidate, polling over 10000 votes. He was known for his modern, youth-focused campaign style.

Cedric was involved in various entrepreneurial ventures and supported tech innovation and creative industries in Uganda.

Before his passing, Cedric Babu was affiliated with the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), the pressure group led by the CDF  Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
