CDF Holds Meeting with Indian Military Experts
The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, this afternoon engaged in discussions with the Indian Military Advisers Training Team (IMATT) who are based in Jinja to assess the areas of military cooperation between Uganda and India.
The meeting which was also attended by the Commander Airforce Lt Gen Charles Okidi was held at the SFC headquarters in Entebbe.
A statement from the CDF’s office noted, “Uganda and India share a strong and mutually beneficial military relationship. Our goal is to deepen and enhance this cooperation.”
In 2018, Uganda and India signed a defense pact in the presence of President Yoweri Museveni during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uganda. The agreement was aimed at reinforcing the existing military training partnerships between the two countries.
The defense pact was one of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed at State House Entebbe during the two-day state visit of Indian Prime Minister then.
