Two drivers lost their lives and at least 19 passengers sustained injuries following a fatal road crash that occurred on the evening of May 20, 2025, at approximately 9:35 PM in Payila Alwi, Pakwach District.

The incident involved a Baby Coach bus (registration UBB 145S) driven by Mustafa Male, and a fuel tanker (registration KBW 679H/ZG 0855) operated by Adan Omar, a Kenyan national. Both drivers died , Omar on the spot, and Male later at Angal Hospital.

Among the 19 reported victims are residents from Nebbi, Arua, Zombo, Bunia (DRC), and Kenya. Notable among the injured is Jackline Ururach, 60, from Paidha, who sustained a broken right arm. Several victims were initially treated at Pakwach Health Centre IV and later transferred to Nebbi Hospital.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the bus veered from its lane and collided with the parked fuel tanker, which was stationed on the hard shoulder with visible warning signs. Authorities believe the cause of the accident was careless driving by the bus driver.

The scene was secured by police officers from Pakwach Central Police Station, led by the District Police Commander (DPC), and the rescue team. Both vehicles have been impounded for further inspection.

Police spokesperson SP Asea Collins confirmed the incident in a progressive report (TAR. 13/2025), and noted that investigations are ongoing. Autopsies were conducted, and more updates will be shared in due course.
