Police at Nateete Police Station have arrested Mwanda Alex, a 30-year-old male, in connection with an attempted robbery in Kibumbiro Zone.

According to Sp Kawala Racheal, the Kampala Metropolitan police Spokesman, Mwanda, a boda boda rider and resident of Nabbingo Zone, was apprehended following the incident.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on 25 March 2026 at around 03:00hrs, Mwanda hired a boda boda from Nansana heading to Kibumbiro. Two other suspects, who remain at large, were allegedly following him on another motorcycle.

Upon reaching the main road in Kibumbiro, the group reportedly diverted off the road, blocked the rider, and threatened him with a panga in an attempt to steal the motorcycle.

The victim raised an alarm, attracting members of the public. Police officers on foot patrol quickly responded and arrested Mwanda, who was found in possession of a panga, while the other suspects escaped.

Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Meanwhile ; Police at Kireka Police Station are investigating a murder by stabbing that occurred on 26 March 2026 at around 06:00hrs in Kamuli A Zone.

The victim, Omaido Moses, a 44-year-old male, was found with a fatal stab wound and later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident followed a misunderstanding at the victim’s residence involving Agadi Oliver and Aliya.

Police have arrested Agadi Oliver to assist with investigations, while efforts to apprehend the other suspect are ongoing.

The body of the deceased has been taken to City Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police say inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
