Bobi Wine has Waged War on Uganda’s Prosperity – Museveni
President Yoweri Museveni has said that Kyadondo East Member of Parliament is an enemy of Uganda’s progress.
In an interview with the BBC, Mr. Museveni said that he had previously been in the opposition but could never oppose the construction of a road in Uganda because it is a public good.
“Mr. Bobi Wine went to America and said that people should not come and invest in Uganda, that’s what he said. That means he is an enemy of progress in Uganda,” said Mr. Museveni.
The President told BCC journalist Alan Kasija that when he was a member of the DP (opposition) in the 1960s, he could not sabotage development programs.
“In the 1960s, I was a member of DP but when I couldn’t say, ‘don’t build the Masaka-Kabale Road because I am not in the government, because that road is my road –it’s not for the government,” said Mr. Museveni.
On cancellation of Bobi Wine’s music concerts, the president noted that
“If you’re waging war on our country when you go and you tell foreigners that they should not come and invest in our country, you are waging war on our prosperity. So, why then do you want to come and take advantage of that prosperity,” Mr. Museveni wondered.
The BBC also asked Mr. Museveni about the Uganda-Rwanda tensions but the president insisted that he doesn’t discuss the matters which he can discuss with his Rwandan counterpart in the press.
The President, however, noted that Uganda is stable and able to handle any security threat either from within or outside.
The president’s statement comes a few days after Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations warned Uganda’s enemies they will have a very bad day and potentially crushed to dust if they tried to destabilize the country.
“I can assure whoever even thinks of messing with Uganda will get a very bad day. Long live UPDF! Long live Ugandan Special Forces!” Gen Kainerugaba tweeted.
