Bobi Wine Cuts Short Hoima Activities After Cold Reception, Death of Supporter

The National Unity Platform chairman, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, faced a disappointing turn of events when his mobilization activities in Hoima City fell flat. As a result, he was compelled to truncate his plans and hastily drive to Arua, leaving behind a bewildered group of supporters who had accompanied him from Kiboga.

The lackluster response from the people of this oil-rich city was evident, with the scheduled rally and the opening of the NUP offices in Hoima having to be abandoned. The abruptness of Bobi Wine’s departure on day two left his followers perplexed, as they were left without a clear explanation.

Bobi Wine’s Car Knocks Boda Boda Man Dead

To worsen matters, tragedy struck when one of the cars in Bobi Wine’s convoy ran over an unidentified boda boda rider on their way to Kigorobya where they held a mini rally. Tragically, the rider died on the spot. Earlier, another boda boda rider was also struck by the speeding convoy vehicles, but fortunately, he survived and is currently receiving treatment for his injuries in a hospital in Kiboga.

NUP supporters familiar with the situation suggested that both the untimely death of the boda boda rider and the unenthusiastic atmosphere in Hoima may have prompted Bobi Wine’s premature exit.

According to Bobi Wine’s program, his team was slated to hold a major rally at Boma grounds in Hoima, scheduled to last from 9 am to 7 pm. However, the unexpected cold reception and the tragic accident forced a swift change of plans.

It remains to be seen how Bobi Wine and his team will regroup and address the setbacks they encountered in Hoima.
