Bobi Wine Attacks D/Speaker Tayebwa Over Assault of UMEME Contractor

NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, over the weekend castigated the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, for a an incident in which Tayebwa assaulted an employee of electricity agency UMEME.

The former Kyadondo East MP was referring to a 2020 incident in which the Member of Parliament for Ruhinda North, Thomas Tayebwa was seen in a video assaulting the Umeme Ltd. contractor as he disconnected the MP from a transmission line on which he had connected illegally.

In a video that went viral, MP Tayebwa was seen questioning a man who had disconnected power in addition to ordering him to lie down. The gentleman was seen being beaten as they counted up to 10 strokes.

Bobi Wine was speaking on Saturday at the burial of Henry Masolo, the father of Opposition Chief Whip in Parliament, Mr John Baptist Nambeshe.

Masolo succumbed to cancer on March 30 cancer and he was buried at his ancestral home in Burenga village, Busayi parish in Bududa District.

Mr Thomas Tayebwa left shortly after Bobi Wine’s scathing attack.

He did not tell journalists his premature departure.
