Bishop Stuart University Refutes Claims of Female Students Engaging in Prostitution

Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara has strongly refuted claims made by one Dr. Abdallah Nkokyoyo, the Project Director of USAID LPHS TASO Ankole, concerning the conduct of female students at the institution.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the university labeled the allegations as baseless, false, and malicious.

Dr. Nkokyoyo, in a widely circulated video, accused the university of allowing inappropriate behavior among its female students, including claims of sexual misconduct. He alleged that some female students were involved in selling sex to him and other corporate men. Furthermore, he criticized the university for its alleged failure to control its students.

The allegations were made on September 24, 2024, during an address by Dr. Nkokyoyo at the Mbarara City Council premises.

The university’s Public Relations Office, led by Senior PRO Kuribakanya Rose Rwankore, categorically debunked the accusations, calling them defamatory and disrespectful not only to the institution but also to the wider university community, especially female students.

“These claims are not only untrue but also disrespectful to the women who study and live here,” the statement reads. The university called on the public to dismiss the claims and treat them with the contempt they deserve.

Bishop Stuart University emphasized its commitment to Christian values and providing a safe, nurturing environment for all its students. The university demanded a full retraction and apology from Dr. Nkokyoyo, warning of further action if the demands are not met.

Bishop Stuart University, a chartered Christian institution, reaffirmed its dedication to upholding high standards of education and Christian integrity in the face of the accusations.
