Besigye Brushes Off FDC Symbol Spat, Urges Unity

Dr. Kizza Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate, has responded to recent criticisms from Patrick Amuriat, the leader of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

Amuriat had threatened legal action against Besigye for using FDC’s symbols and colors during his tours. Besigye emphasized the importance of focusing on substantive issues rather than symbolic disputes, mocking Amuriat’s fixation on such matters.

Despite his strained relationship with the current FDC leadership, Besigye continued to display the party’s symbols during his travels, emphasizing his association with the party’s values.

Amuriat stressed that Besigye, not formally associated with the FDC, must not use party emblems and vowed to sue him, citing misuse and abuse of FDC’s instruments. Besigye dismissed Amuriat’s concerns as inconsequential “petty children’s fights” and urged a focus on freeing Ugandans from the current regime’s grip.

He highlighted the urgency of addressing pressing issues like loss of life, denouncing those fixated on symbols.

Besigye emphasized the need for unity across political backgrounds to address the nation’s challenges and reiterated his dedication to sincere efforts for progress.
