Besigye and Mukaaku Oppose New Evidence in Incitement Case

Rtd Dr. Kiiza Besigye and activist Lubega Mukaaku, appeared before Buganda Road Court presided over by Grade 1 Magistrate Winnie Nankya yesterday for further hearing of a matter in which the duo are charged for allegedly Inciting to violence the public for, rise in essential commodity prices in 2022.

Prosecution attempted to introduce new evidence, which was roundly rejected by defense Counsel Erias Lukwago.
The Lord Mayor vowed to oppose the smuggled in evidence, since it tantamouts to abuse of court process which may lead to miscarriage of Justice and, violates rules regarding disclosure.

The matter was adjourned to 25th October 2024 to allow the defendants to further examine the Police Report filled by Scene of Crime officer(SOCO).
