The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 3 Infantry Division concluded its Easter Sports Gala in style as Bakara FC clinched the championship with a 2–0 win over Instructors FC. The final took place at Moroto Army Primary School grounds.

Designed to foster physical fitness and camaraderie among personnel, the tournament featured four teams: Officers FC, Instructors FC, Bakara FC, and Hospital FC. Fixtures were contested on a home-and-away basis in the build-up to the final.

Brigadier General Wilberforce Sserunkuma, Commander of the 3 Infantry Division, praised the participants for their dedication and spirit. “Such sports activities enhance physical readiness, strengthen relationships, and support leadership development within the force,” he said. He further encouraged regular sporting events to coincide with national public holidays.

Lieutenant Colonel Lenin Peter Kyongo, Operations and Training Officer of the 106 Artillery Brigade and patron of the tournament, remarked: “The gala achieved its goals despite the delays,” emphasising the value of balancing duty with recreational engagement.

Bakara FC secured their victory with two first-half goals. Lance Corporal Achidri Nicholas struck in the 25th minute, followed by a second from Private Okol Francis in the 40th.
Individual honours were also awarded:
• Top Scorer: L/Cpl Achidri Nicholas (5 goals)
• Man of the Match: Pte Ogwang Lakana
• Best Goalkeeper: Pte Oberyang Moses
• Best Defender: Pte Chodri Byaba
The final was witnessed by Colonel Richard Butungi, Division Administrative Officer (DAO), along with senior and junior officers, troops, and their families.
