Police in Wakiso are looking for unidentified thugs for killing two and robbing millions, mobile phones, and a vehicle.

The deceased Lawrence Lutaseera, 45, a mobile money operator, and his employee Rashid Ssenyonga 27 were gunned down at their residence in Nakilama cell, Kyengera town council, Wakiso district on Friday night at 10:30 pm.

It is alleged that Lutaseera had just returned home from a short walk with his wife Norah Patricia Kyazzike when the two armed thugs attacked. The wife explained to police that when the couple arrived home, her husband called Ssenyonga to open the gate but as soon as they entered the compound,  two armed men suddenly attacked and opened fire at her husband and the gateman.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson said the robbers made off with over 80 million Shillings, several mobile phones and a vehicle. Onyango has condemned the murder and cautioned mobile money operators against moving with huge amounts of money, especially in the late evening hours.

“If you’re to carry a huge amount of money, make sure you have security. Avoid moving in patterns that can be easily monitored and mastered by criminals,” Onyango said.

He says Police recovered 12 cartridge shells and seven live ammunition rounds from the crime scene. Lutaseera and his wife’s vehicle UBG 169M, was found at Doctor’s Hospital Seguku with blood stains on the seats, a broken driver’s windscreen, and three bullet holes.

Onyango said Lutaseera and Ssenyonga’s bodies were handed over to the city mortuary for an autopsy. The vehicle has since been taken to Nalumunye police station as an exhibit or investigation.
