Archbishop Kazimba Calls For Equal Mentorship Of The Boy Child
The Archbishop Church of Uganda his Grace Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has called for equal mentorship of boys and girls to ensure gender equality for all.
He made the remarks on Wednesday at the Church of Uganda International Women’s Day Celebrations at Namirembe Cathedral, saying when boys are well nurtured, it will ensure a better future for girls and women.
Kaziimba said the boy child is being neglected while focus is put on the girls and women, something that doesn’t depict the concept of gender equality.
Mugalu emphasized that gender-based discrimination is a systematic problem deeply entrenched in the social, political, and economic fabric of society.
According to Kaziimba, achieving gender equity and uplifting women is not possible if the needs and development of the boy child are neglected, even if girls and women are empowered.
The International Women’s day was commemorated on Wednesday at Sanga Playground in Sanga Town Council in Kiruhura District under the theme; Equal Opportunities in Education, Science and Technology.
