An angry mob took justice into their own hands, killing three suspects involved in an aggravated robbery in Ndejje Kibutika Village in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.

The assailants, armed with a gun, attacked employees of Shana Distributors Ltd from Kikuubo as they were carrying out their routine product distribution.

The suspects, Bakka Mark, Ssemanda Brain, and another person on a motorcycle, fired live bullets at the distribution truck, forcing it to stop. They then approached the vehicle and demanded money from the occupants.

The truck’s occupants, identified as Galabuzi Haruna (the driver), Babirye Patricia (the salesperson), and Mfitumukiza Henry (the offloader), found themselves at the mercy of the armed criminals. When they hesitated to comply with the demands, the situation turned violent.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, reported that despite warning shots, the assailants callously shot Babirye in the leg before fleeing with a significant sum of money, around 20 million Ugandan shillings, on a motorcycle with registration UES 820K.

He further explains that as the victims raised the alarm, a brave pursuit ensued, leading to a dramatic confrontation in Namasuba.

Locals managed to capture the suspects, resulting in a fierce clash. In the process, two suspects, Bakka Mark and Ssemanda Brain, succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while another died upon reaching Mulago Hospital.

Police recovered identification and voter cards from the deceased, and the alleged weapon used in the robbery has been secured as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation. However, the stolen cash remains elusive, believed to have been taken by members of the public during the confrontation.
