The mother of veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda, Burahya County MP Margaret Muhanga, and senior UPDF officer Maj Gen Kayanja Muhanga has died.

The siblings made the announcement on social media last evening attracting sympathy from high profile Ugandans.

“I would like to inform all our friends and family that our dear mother, Mrs Constance Muhanganzima, has just passed away at Nakasero Hospital about ten minutes ago,” Mwenda tweeted last evening.

He added: “We shall be informing all about the next plans for escorting her to the paradise she prepared her life for!”

MP Muhanga‏ also said in a tweet: “My sweet mom just passed on a while ago after she was evacuated from FP with pain. RIP Adyeri omurungi wa Rutagata.”

“I want to pass my condolences to some remarkable people, General Kayanja Muhanga, @AndrewMwenda and @MargaretMuhanga on the loss of their mother. We are so sorry for your loss but we know that her greatness lives on through her children. May Adyeeri rest in peace,” Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba tweeted.

Burial arrangement

“My mum, The Matriarch of Kanyandahi has retired! She was the kindest, warmest and most generous person I knew! She looked after and cared for everyone who came to our home: the sick, the hungry, the needy, she took care of them all. Her meager resources were never exhausted.

The vigil is right next to Heritage International School! There will be a memorial service at All Saints Cathedral at 10 am on Wednesday (that is tomorrow) and burial in Kanyandahi on Friday!” Mwenda posted on his Facebook Page.
