Allen Kagina Hands Over as UNRA Transitions to MOW
Allen Kagina, the former Executive Director of the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), along with the former board chair, directors, and senior managers, officially handed over the authority’s offices and assets to the Minister of State for Works, Musa Ecweru.
This marks the final step in the transition following the repeal of the Uganda National Roads Authority Act and the integration of its functions into the Ministry of Works and Transport.
“Having fully served its purpose, I am retiring the handle @UNRA_ED. It has been 9 years and 8 months of fruitful engagement on this platform… adieu,” Kagina tweeted, signaling the end of her tenure and leadership.
The handover ceremony highlighted the smooth transition of office and services, ensuring that transport services will remain safe, efficient, and reliable.
Kagina’s leadership at UNRA, which lasted for nine years, was marked by significant transformations within the authority.
As the transport sector enters this new phase under the Ministry of Works and Transport, stakeholders remain hopeful for continued improvements in service delivery and infrastructure development. With the ministry now overseeing the responsibilities previously held by UNRA, the sector is poised for better coordination and greater efficiency.
