Al Hajji Kigongo Advocates Unity and Dialogue at DP’s Iftar Dinner

He warned against the consequences of spreading hate, divisionism, and character assassination

The 1st National Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Al-hajji Moses Kigongo, has issued a plea for reconciliation, peace, unity, and dialogue among Ugandans, particularly politicians, regardless of their political affiliations.

Kigongo delivered these sentiments while attending the Democratic Party (DP)’s Iftar Dinner and Duwa prayers held at their Headquarters on Balintuma Road, Lubaga division, Kampala.

Emphasizing the common humanity shared by all Ugandans, regardless of political allegiance, tribe, or religion, Kigongo urged politicians to prioritize reconciliation, unity, and dialogue over fostering hate and division.

He warned against the consequences of spreading hate, divisionism, and character assassination, urging a commitment to dialogue for resolving impasses and fostering the nation’s development in accordance with religious teachings.

Fred Mukasa Mbidde, Vice President of the Democratic Party, echoed Kigongo’s call for unity while expressing gratitude to Muslims for their fasting observance. He lamented the poor state of Uganda’s roads and urged the government to prioritize infrastructure development over makeshift repairs on roads built during past administrations.

Mbidde also expressed gratitude to Muslims for their overwhelming response to the dinner invitation, underscoring DP’s longstanding relationship with the Islamic religion
