Africa Peace Concert Returns for 4th Edition to Promote Peace and Unity

The highly anticipated Africa Peace Concert is set to return for its 4th edition on January 10, 2025. The event, renowned for blending music, culture, and advocacy, will feature performances by some of Uganda’s most iconic acts, including Blu 3, Ghetto Kids, Iwera Band, and saxophonist Felisax.

Supporting the Makerere Rotary Peace Center
This year’s concert aims to raise awareness and generate funds for the Makerere Rotary Peace Center, a leading institution dedicated to peacebuilding and conflict resolution in Africa. The center, the first of its kind on the continent, provides training for leaders committed to fostering peace and transforming conflicts. It hosts fellows from across the globe, empowering them to implement impactful projects in their communities.

The Africa Peace Concert is an annual initiative with the mission of raising $500,000 to ensure the sustainability of the Makerere Rotary Peace Center. In 2024, the event successfully collected $234,555, and organizers are determined to surpass this amount in 2025.

Joseph Nuwamanya, Chairman of the Africa Peace Concert 2025, emphasized the significance of the event in promoting unity and fostering social change across Africa.

“We are honoured to have these incredible artists join us in amplifying the message of peace,” he said. “Their involvement reflects not only their passion for music but also their deep commitment to their communities and the cause of peace.”

Beyond delivering unforgettable musical performances, the Africa Peace Concert serves as a vital platform for advocating peace and addressing social challenges. The funds raised during the event will support the Makerere Rotary Peace Center’s ongoing efforts to train peacebuilders and advance transformative programs in areas such as youth empowerment, conflict resolution, and gender equality.

Since its inception, the Centre has welcomed 110 fellows from 43 countries, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to lead initiatives that create positive change in their home regions.
