After nine remarkable years of steadfast leadership and service, we bid a proud and heartfelt farewell to Ms. Eva Grace Kavuma , who officially retired from the Board of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited at our Annual General Meeting held on May 28, 2025.
She joined the Board on July 7, 2016, and from the onset, she distinguished herself with visionary thinking, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to people. From steering critical governance committees—including Audit, Risk, and Credit—to her indelible mark as Chair of the Board People and Culture Committee for six years, her leadership helped reimagine what it means to put people at the heart of banking.
During a transformative chapter in our history, Eva helped guide the Bank through a strategic corporate reorganization in 2019 that gave rise to Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited—a milestone that has redefined our trajectory as a diversified financial services group. As a pioneering Director on the Holding Company Board, she played a crucial role in establishing a firm governance foundation.
Her stewardship during the COVID-19 pandemic was nothing short of inspiring. At a time of great global uncertainty, Eva’s unwavering focus on staff well-being helped sustain a resilient, compassionate, and high-performance culture that continues to drive Stanbic’s success today.
Throughout her tenure, Eva supported three dynamic Chief Executives—Patrick Mweheire, Anne Juuko , and Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa —each of whom benefitted from her wisdom, counsel, and advocacy for inclusive leadership.
Reflecting on her tenure, Director Eva said: “It has been the honour of a lifetime to serve on the Board of Stanbic Bank Uganda and to play a part in this incredible journey over the past nine years. I am deeply grateful to the shareholders and leadership for the trust placed in me, and to my fellow Board members for the camaraderie and shared vision we cultivated. I have had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary Chief Executives and management teams whose commitment and resilience continue to inspire me. I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to our employees, customers, and regulators—your support has been the foundation of everything we have achieved. Congratulations to the Stanbic community for the collective success stories we have written together. I will always remain proud of what we built and the purpose we served.”
