Uganda Airlines to Start Long Haul Flights
Uganda Airlines says it will soon add four destinations following the acquisition of the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) for the airbuses.
“The AIRBUS A330-800 neo has been added to our AOC and soon we will be flying the crane long haul to DUBAI, LONDON, MUMBAI and GUANGZHOU,” the flag carrier said in a Twitter statement.
The certificate, which is awarded by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) – permits the company to use a given aircraft for commercial purposes.
It is awarded after the Authority has inspected flight operators, safety measures, maintenance arrangements, and the document indicates the aircraft types and registrations to be used, purpose, and area of operation.
Uganda Airlines acquired two Airbus A330neos last year, adding them to the four CRJ900 aircraft.
The company currently offers flights to Mogadishu, Entebbe, Kilimanjaro, Nairobi, Bujumbura, Johannesburg, Kinshasha, Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Juba and Mombasa.
Contacted for comment on the long-haul operations, the Uganda Airlines chief executive Jennifer Bamuturaki requested us to send questions and we shall add her response when she sends it.
